Unfixed frozen section of mouse lung. Sections cut at 10 microns,  mounted onto slides and dried overnight in a fumehood “on”.

Upper image : Formalin-fixed for 15 mins at RT

Lower image: Acetone – fixed for 15 mins at RT.

Note the FIF in the upper image. I am surprised that there is FIF even with such a short fixation time.
