Subject: Hollande Fixative - Reply

Dear Richard

>From time to time I receive Hollande's-fixed samples and heat-treat them
like the rest with good results. Probably pretreatment may not be necessary
for internediate filaments and probably Hollande's-fixed samples need less
demasking than NBF-fixed tissue. If you need more info, you can contact
Gaetan MacGrogan macgrogan@bergonie.org at the Fondation Bergognié in
Bordeaux. This group has a wide experience of IHC with Hollande's and
published several papers demonstrating clinical significance of ER and PR
immunohistochemistry in breast cancer. A huge series of patients was studied
with 1D5 using HMAR (De Mascarel et al. Immunohistochemical analysis of
estrogen receptors in 938 breast carcinomas. Concordance with biochemical
assay and prognostic signifiance. Appl Immunohistochem 1995 ; 3 : 222-31).
