Subject: Productivity
Dear Histonetters,
I realize that this question was just posed not too
long ago but I missed some of the responses. So, to
repeat: I need statistics on productivity/workload for
Histotechs. We average 12-13,000 specimens per year,
cut on the average 150-200 blocks per day in addition
to embedding,staining, labelling and distributing
slides, special stains from 5:30am to 11:00am. One
tech will embed, stain, label slides while two others
cut beginning at 6:30 and 7:00am. If one of these
three people is absent we do have contigent coverage
if there is advanced notice. We bought three motorized
microtomes and to do so, gave up one FTE (against my
better judgement). It is budget time and I need to
justify an 0.5 FTE to help in the morning. Any
statistics you are willing to share with me that will
help me in my mission will be very appreciated. You
may email me or FAX me at 248-471-8250. Thank you in
advance for your help and, hopefully, support and
empathy!
Sincerely,
Carla Frenchko
