Sorry we didn't get to this yesterday - it was a busy day! We all attended
some good workshops. After the wonderful party on Saturday nite getting to
those early workshops on Sunday morning was difficult for some of us. I
don't
know how many techs are here for this NSH but there seems  to be quite a
crowd.
The Culling Memorial Lecture on H. Pylori by Rodger C. Haggit, M.D. was
interesting as was the International Lecture by Ute Wagner-Bach, D.V.M.,
PH-PDT. This was the first year in a long time that I got to attend the
lectures and I'm so glad that I did.
The exhibits opened on Sunday morning after the lectures. There are some
wonderful new products this year. There was another great party on Sunday
evening sponsored by CytoLogix featuring a 2 standup comedians. Elizabeth
laughed so hard she got a cramp in her forehead! (She said I could say
that!)
We also toured around Providence in the off hours and found that you could
get to Newport by bus for $1.25. Once in Newport there are many things to do
- lots (no TONS) of little shops, walks along the ocean and of course, the
mansions to tour.
I'm sure we are all gaining weight - the Italian food is so good and so
plentiful.
The weather was good until today (Monday) when it rained and got cold. We
are
expecting the rest of the week to be cold - for some of us Arizona people
temperatures in the 50's is cold!
I got to be a liason for Russ Allison's workshop this morning, wouldn't you
know it, the bulb on the slide projector went out during his talk! It was a
good workshop though in spite of a little equipment difficulty. We also had
another chance to go through the exhibit hall and talk to the vendors and
pick up some of the goodies that they were giving away this year.
Since our newsletter editor couldn't make it to Providence this year I went
to the newsletter editor's meeting and found out which societies won the
newsletter awards - Michigan and New York were the lucky ones this year.
Tonite Shandon will sponsor another party - this one is a dress-up affair.
