Re: waynes world.....
I was fortunate enough to be taught by Wayne. He had so much wisdom and I
still remember things he said 20 years later. We were truly blessed by
someone who new and loved the field of Histology so passionately!!! I just
recently met up with two of my classmates at the WI/MN combined State
Histology meeting, Bob Brunner and Brett Southard.

I reaped the benefits of Wayne's legacy but was in the first class to not be
taught by him. I've heard so many things about the man and vividly remember
the words "Wayne's world" scratched into one of the tables as well as a note
he left behind. It said, in effect, "I'll be at the hospital for a while,
but I'll see you all soon" and he never came back. That note stayed up in
the glassware washing area for the duration of my program there. I truly
regret not meeting this person.

this girly from Waynes world is stuck out in montana. i definitely agree
with you, Colleen, about the quality of Waynes teachings. More than once i
have thanked the gods that be for the opportunity to have had Wayne as an
instructor; he was the BEST!! i remember how fond he was of calling an H&E
'routine' (sarcasm here). i think his best piece of advice to graduating
interns was to remember NOT to say "this isn't how we did it in school!" on
the first day of a new job.
Yes, Wayne is definitely missed but he'll never be forgotten by this kid.

Hello to all the "School of Kampa" survivors.Yes, Tim, it would be fun
to see how
many of there are on histonet. I have counted 5 of us thus far. How many
more of you
are out there!!!!
I often think of Wayne when I am with a student or "newbie". I find
myself thinking "That
isn't the ay you would have done it if Wayne had been your instructor!!"
How about the rest
of you. He was a tough, but good, cookie. For sure you were in "Waynes
World" when in class
or lab!
He is soooo missed. Thanks Wayne.
