Cynthia talked about problems that are seen after long term storage of
tissue blocks. The tissue and the embedding medium, (OCT, CryoGel) will
dehydrate over time in a freezer and will change the nature of the tissue.
The Instrumedics Protective Oil is used to coat the block and prevent the
loss of water from the frozen tissue and the embedding medium during long
term storage.
