I agree...since 1982 I have done things by hand and
the most I have done is 200 in one day which was
crazy.  I really feel that anyone doing more than 40
slides a day really needs automation.  We just
automated and the staining is just more consistent and
our repeats are going down.  Even with these numbers,
experience is key....automation can not always produce
perfect slides each time...but overall...our Dako
instrument is very good.  Usually, the pretreatments
are still done by hand but the rest can be placed on
the equipment.  hope this helps.
