I think that you could use the 88309, soft tissue tumor, extensive
resection.  Most cancer specimens are 88309's that I am aware of.  I hope
that this helps.  
I would also know if I could have your permission to use this question in
the next issue of NSH in Action newsletter, we are running an on going
article about CPT coding and using examples sent into Histonet.  I would
also be interested in hearing any of the other responses that you receive.

Can someone help us with the CPT coding of a wide excision of a melonma...?
 The current coding is a 88305 (skin)..But what if we have at least 20
blocks on
  the specimen..Is there a different code for this?
