JC virus is a polyomavirus of the papovaviride family is the causative agent
of PML (progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy)... PML is a rare
de-myelinating disease of the CNS seen mainly in as a complication of advanced
disseminated malignant conditions such as Hodgkin's or CLL (chronic
lymphocytic leukemia)... also HIV and post-transplant.
It is available from Novacastra, Cat.#: NCL-JC, $225.00/1.0 ml. It is for
formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissues and requires HIER. Novacastra
antibodies are distributed by Vector Laboratories, Burlingame, CA 94010 in the
U.S.
