Dana,

You can use a spreadsheet program like Excel or a database program, like
MS-Access or Filemaker Pro to enter label info and print them to a lazer
printer. Then there are spedcialized programs, like MajorFocus, designed for
histology labeling. There are also many inexpensive label programs which
allow you to design a custom label.

One concern is the quality of the labels. I've found nalgene polypaper
labels to be the best. ToughTags are excellent as well.

We use an application developed with MS-Access for our lab information
system and print labels directly from that for special stains, immunos and
ISH.

Dear Histonetters
To reduce labeling errors, I was wondering if any of you know about or can
tell me about a windows based computer driven slide labeler we could attach
to our PC in pathology, does such a miracle exist? Thanks for the help .
Also
what are you doing to reduce labelling errors? Dana Dittus
