Re: block disposal
Diane,
We currrently discard our blocks (after the manditory 20 year holding period) as we do our specimens. We double red bag them, put them in hard fiber boxes that are labeled with our generator Biohazard label as well as an incinerate only label and are taken away by our Infectious waste people . I believe that they are still incinerated off site.

How does everyone dispose of their parrafin blocks in plastic cassettes? We
have 3 choices here: white bag to landfill, red bag to incinerator (which
will soon end because of the plastic) or red bag and autoclave. Seems to me
that this material is no longer infectious but should it go to a landfill?
Thanks in advance for any help,
