RE: [Histonet] Receiving Cytology Specimens in Glass Containers
There are new rules for transporting biological samples for 2005, this is
handled by the Department of Transportation, I am told you can do a web
search for dot.gov and find the regs.

Subject: [Histonet] Receiving Cytology Specimens in Glass Containers
Morning Histonetters,
we have come across a little problem. We are performing some work from local
small hospitals. Our concern is that we are receiving many large volumes of
cytology fluids in glass containers. I checked the JCAHO website and could
not find anything relating to transporting specimens in glass containers.
Does anyone know any regulations concerning transporting specimens in glass
containers? Once again, I thank you for your efforts and vast knowledge.
