A bag of rice
I would like to share with all of you this story that
appeared in our Sunday paper:
There is a Mennonite Church in Boulder, Colorado that has
started "A bag of rice" movement as an anti-war statement. This is how it works:
Place 1/2 cup uncooked rice in a zip-lock bag. Wrap it in a piece of paper on
which you have written, "If your enemies are hungry, feed them. Romans 12:20.
Please send this rice to the people of Iraq; do not attack them."
Place the paper and the bag of rice in a padded mailing
envelope and address it to President George Bush, White House, 1600 Pennsylvania
Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20500. The mailing will cost three 37 cent stamps.
Organizers hope the White House mailroom will be piled high with hundreds of
thousands of bags of rice as a statement from the American people against war
with Iraq.
