Priscilla,
Every histology lab should have a pH meter available.
If cost is a problem there are several inexpensive hand-held pH meters
available through the usual supply houses. They are accurate enough for
special stains.

I would appreciate hearing the ways that are available to test for pH of a
strongly colored dye solution. I don't have a pH meter available to me
except in the clinical lab where it would have to go through a sensitive
automated instrument and would probably mess up the electrodes for their
serum.
