Sheehan states" Calcium oxalate will not color with hematoxylin or alizarin
red. Oxalate salts are considered to give usually a negative von Kossa
reaction, but there is disagreement concerning this characteristic." She
gives Pizzolato's method for calcium oxalate. If you do not have a copy of
Sheehan available, the reference (which you might like to read) is
Pizzolato,P: Histochemical recognition of calcium oxalate. J Histochem
Cytochem 12:333-336, 1964.
Hope this helps.
