Louise,
		have been used for several purposes including...
ultraviolet light microscopy (e,g, for DNA analysis as do not interfere
with UV rays as does regular glass) and when sections are to be ashed for
microchemical analysis. Additionally, quartz coverslips are available which
are plano-paralled, important in some other analytical microscopy procedures.
